People like birds can COO, HOOT, CLUCK and CHIRP…
TO CHIRP
When a bird CHIRPS, it makes a short high sound.
“Have a nice day” she CHIRPED.
What does it mean?
…… time to think….
It means that she said it with a happy voice.
TO HOOT
Owls HOOT (let out their famous scary sound)))
People too. If they HOOT, they make a loud sound, e.g., We all HOOTED with laughter.
In Br Eng, when you HOOT (your horn) you make a loud sound with your car horn.
I figured out it was my fault only when other cars started to HOOT.
TO COO
Pigeons COO = they make this soft low sound.
What about us? We COO when we speak in a gentle way, usually saying nice things.
Her cousins COOED over her new-born daughter.
TO CLUCK
Hens CLUCK.
I cluck too. What about you? You cluck, when you make this short sound with your tongue to show you feel sorry for sb or you disapprove of sth.
Michael CLUCKED his tongue impatiently, he couldn’t wait any longer.
